Namche Bazaar, the Capital of the Sherpa World

Hi there. We have arrived at Namche Bazaar, the capital of the Sherpa World at 3445 metres, 11,300 feet.

Today was a beautiful and sunny day and we walked here from our last night's camp in the village of Phakding. Yesterday we flew to the Lukla airport after spending a couple of days in Kathmandu and organizing things. Its now foggy and almost dark in Namche as we enjoy pizzas and tea at Santosh's Cyber Café. I have attached a photo, are you able to see it?

Our team is here including Bill and Mark from the Everest climb, Paul and Daniel from the Lhotse climb, Simon from the Ama Dablam team, and Nancy from the Seattle Times.

We have some fantastic Sherpas with us here including Ms. Kandu, Tenzing, Lhakpa Chirri, Lhakpa Gormu, Phuri,Temba, and Kaji. We plan to take a rest day tomorrow. Terry from the Everest team was coughing and had a sore throat and lost his voice in Katmandu so he went to the Ciwec clinic and rested for a day and he just flew to Lukla today with his Sherpa Pasang. Bruce from the Lhotse team is due to arrive in Kathmandu today.

We will keep you posted about how our trek to base camp is going.

Thanks very much for covering our expedition!

Yours Sincerely,

Dan Mazur
